For a comedy revue that comes to Moose Jaw on Saturday, cast member and writer Rob Norman took on a tricky question: “What does it mean to be Canadian?”
“It was a very bizarre and soul-searching process for me as a comedian, working on a search for the ultimate Canadian identity,” said Norman, who, along with five other actors, stars in A Visitor’s Guide to Canada, a touring show from The Second City of Toronto.
Does the show, comprised of a series of sketches and songs, answer the question?
“I would love to give a unequivocal ‘yes’ to that question, but I’m not sure I can,” laughed Norman.
A Visitor’s Guide to Canada contains all-new material written by its six cast members, but there are also classic Second City scenes written by other alumni.
Famous alumni of The Second City, with a second headquarters in Chicago, include John Belushi, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Gilda Radner, John Candy, Martin Short, Chris Farley, Mike Myers, Rachel Dratch, Tina Fey, Steve Carell and Stephen Colbert.
