A Moose Jaw woman, who has only just started drawing seriously, has had one of her sketches accepted for the Western Showcase Art Auction at the Calgary Stampede.
Lisa Hufnagel, 40, who moved to Moose Jaw five years ago, said it was an honour for her picture ‘Prairie Girls’ to be featured.
For the sketch, she took a picture of friend Twyla Tondevold, marketing executive for the Times-Herald, dressed as a cowgirl with her horse Tequila.
She then spent 60 hours creating it over about three weeks.
“I used to draw when I was a kid,” she said. “Then I stopped drawing but tried to draw a couple of things over the years and maybe one picture every decade and then I decided to really draw a picture after I went to Spruce Meadows with my girlfriend to watch the masters show jumping event,” Hufnagel said.
