The Kinsmen Club of Moose Jaw has been fortunate to be involved with a number of high profile activities that provided considerable visibility and favourable publicity.
The club was recognized as Moose Jaw's group of the year at the awards ceremony sponsored by Moose Jaw and District Chamber of Commerce.
The annual Kinsmen Christmas parade was well-received, bringing spectators to Main Street to await the arrival of Santa Claus. This project was conducted in co-operation with the annual Lights on Ceremony conducted by the Moose Jaw Business Improvement District.
During December, the Kinsmen Christmas Crew safe driving program was undertaken. Twenty-four businesses and groups took advantage of the program which realized a profit of more than $10,000.
A net revenue of more than $15,000 came from the 17th annual sports celebrity banquet held Feb. 7. Tickets were sold out.
Moose Jaw Kinsmen and Kinettes were involved with Kinsmen Telemiracle 33 and displayed coin boxes and helping hands projects throughout the community. A steak night and fish fry were also held to raise funds for Telemiracle.
Kinsmen were involved in April with the annual Focus on Trade trade show, co-sponsored with the chamber of commerce and Moose Jaw Exhibition Company. More than 100 exhibitors participated, with a waiting list established. A profit of $7,000 was earned for each partner.
Other fundraising initiatives included providing bartending services for a number of weddings as well as the Kinsmen barbecue trailer.
External fund-raising projects involving the Kinsmen Club included the annual radiothon with proceeds to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation and the annual Relay for Life where Kinsmen sold 50-50 tickets with proceeds towards cancer
