The east fence at the animal shelter on Stadacona Street West will soon be brightened by the art work of local students.
Seven large-scale works of art created by students of the summer art and culture program at the Moose Jaw Museum and Art Gallery will be donated to the Moose Jaw Humane Society. The art will feature paintings of the students' favourite animals.
The art project was co-ordinated by Bert Redstone, the gallery's summer education co-ordinator.
A celebration to unveil the paintings will be held in the fall.
The Moose Jaw Humane Society cares for more than 1,700 animals every year.

Moose Jaw Rotary Club
Members of the Moose Jaw Rotary Club met Monday at the Heritage Inn with President Ed Bourassa presiding.
Due to several absenses at last week's executive meeting, the business meeting scheduled for this week was postponed.
Shelly Jones, in charge of programming, reminded members she is always looking for new ideas for guest speakers.
International Service director Kathy Fitton updated the club on its inbound exchange student, Andreas Barios from Belgium, who was to arrive Thursday evening at the Regina International Airport.
Any Rotarians wishing to welcome him to Saskatchewan were invited to meet his airplane.
Fitton also reminded the club that she is still looking for a commitment for host families for his stay.
Bourassa welcomed guests in attendance, including his daughter, as well as Susan Hanna, and a former Rotary youth exchange student. He also shared information about Rotary's ongoing efforts with eradicating polio worldwide, and distributed some handouts on the updates.
More volunteers are needed for the meals on wheels delivery schedule.
Next week's guest speaker will be Bill Harris, representing Habitat for Humanity.
The club meets Mondays at noon at the Heritage Inn. New members are welcome.

Journey to Hope
Plans are being made for the second annual Journey to Hope Walk for suicide awareness and prevention.
The walk will take place Sept. 12 through Crescent Park with registration and pledge returns from noon to 1 p.m.; opening ceremonies from 1 to 1:30 p.m.; walk from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.; and closing ceremony at 2:30 p.m.
Registration packages and pledge forms are available at the W. J. Jones and Son Family Centre at 262 Athabasca St. E or by calling 691-4715.
All funds raised will go towards awareness of suicide prevention. Some of last year's pledges were used to purchase the Reaching Out youth suicide prevention program curriculum for the Prairie South and Holy Trinity School Divisions.
