Moose Jaw fiction writer Angie Abdou said she was shocked and delighted to find her novel The Bone Cage rated number one on CBC’s list of best sports book.
The author is in the Friendly City this week teaching a teen writing experience, which is sponsored by the Saskatchewan Festival of Words and the Sage Hill Writing Experience.
Every day this week from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Abdou has been working with selected students aged 14 to 18 years old.
She said it is a great experience for the teenagers and they also get to perform their work at the teen read-out at the Festival of Words which takes place at 2:40 p.m. Friday.
“A lot of people tell me it’s their favourite thing of the whole festival,” she said.
Abdou now lives in Fernie, B.C. but makes a point of coming back to Moose Jaw every year for the Festival of Words.
She said she could not believe her novel The Bone Cage was on the same list as writers such as W. P. Kinsella.
