We Are The City recently went to boot camp — for bands and musicians, that is.
The three-member band from Kelowna, B.C., is a finalist in Vancouver radio station’s Peak Performance Project, meaning they won a spot in a “boot camp” where they learned a lot about the music industry from professionals.
“The networking that went on at the camp was a great opportunity for us,” said Andy Huculiak, the band’s drummer. “The publicity the whole competition has given us is invaluable.”
We Are The City performs at Java Express in Moose Jaw on Friday beginning at 8 p.m.
The radio station plays the songs of the 20 finalists in the competition, and people can vote online for who he or she thinks is best. The winner, to be announced next year, will receive $150,000.
The band, which has been together for about three years, is currently touring Canada with its first album, In A Quiet World.
