Andria Wiehle-Fast knows the source of the images she paints, draws or sculpts.
“This is what flows out of me from the Holy Spirit,” she said, gesturing at the symbols on a large mural she created.
“I ask God to guide my paintbrush.”
A collection of Wiehle-Fast’s artwork is currently on display in the Mosaic Gallery at the Moose Jaw Cultural Centre.
The four-canvas mural was commissioned by Briercrest College and Seminary in Caronport, where Wiehle-Fast works.
“When I was asked to do this, I sketched out instantly the idea — God gave me a vision of what to paint.”
Each image in the mural symbolizes an aspect of faith, she explains. The sword anchored in the middle represents Jesus, truth and spirit. The fire and water represents baptism by those mediums. The white ribbon that can be seen flowing through the mural is “God’s sovereignty and presence in the whole story of life,” she said.
Wiehle-Fast’s art exhibition, called New Life, will be on display at the cultural centre until Jan. 15.
