Marlene McBain, Moose Jaw Art Guild co-president, admits to being “a little nervous” about having her art displayed for the first time.
McBain’s watercolour painting, “Stillness of a Winter Morning,” was recently exhibited with the artwork of other guild members at the Moose Jaw Museum and Art Gallery.
The scene, showing a windswept, wintery landscape with some pink in the sky, is from her imagination.
McBain began painting within the last six years.
“I do this for enjoyment,” she said. “I find painting an intriguing process — three hours can seem like a second.
“A lot of what I do is just experimenting, having fun with it.”
Although there are several paintings by guild members on display, there are also examples of sculpture, fabric art, basketweaving and glasswork.
“We have a group of members who are interested in a diverse range of art,” said Debbie Blash, the guild’s other co-president.
