The year 2009 was a busy one for the arts scene in Moose Jaw.
Saturday's Times-Herald (Dec. 26) has a month-by-month look at the festivals, concerts and musicals that took place in Moose Jaw and area over the past year.
Here's a few examples:
• In the summer, Ain’t We Got Fun: A River Street Revue, was performed at the Moose Jaw Cultural Centre for several dates by a four-member cast and an accompanist on piano. The revue, which celebrated vaudeville songs, dances and sketches of the 1920s, had 32 musical numbers.
• The Festival of Words was held in July in Moose Jaw, and featured readings by Canadian authors, including Jack Whyte, a historical fiction novelist. There were also panel discussions, a trivia night, writing workshops and a book club session.
• Victoria Banks, a songwriter from Nashville, Tenn., who has written songs for Sara Evans, Gretchen Wilson, Carolyn Dawn Johnson and Jessica Simpson, performed at Concert of Hope — A Pink Tie Affair in September, a fundraising concert for the Moose Jaw Health Foundation. Codie Prevost and Sean Hogan also performed at the fundraiser.
