Concert promoter Garry Lichach promised that when performer Bishop Soul took the stage as pop superstar Michael Jackson in Moose Jaw on Friday, Jan. 15, the resemblance would be uncanny.
“Bishop looks, sounds and dances exactly like Michael Jackson. People are always shocked and amazed when they see the show,” said Lichach.
Soul, of Toronto, stars in the show “King of Pop — The Michael Jackson Experience.” Soul has been working as a Jackson impersonator for 10 years.
Although the show has experienced more recognition since Jackson’s death on June 25, has been around for two years, said Lichach.
“This show isn’t meant to capitalize on (Jackson’s) death at all. Rather, it’s a tribute to one of the greatest artists in history,” said Lichach.
Soul is backed by a 10-piece band, which includes horns and strings.
“Note for note, people are going to experience all the big hits,” said Lichach, adding the show will feature songs from a cross-section of Jackson’s career.
“There is Beat It, Billie Jean, Thriller, Black or White, The Way You Make Me Feel — all the songs are there.”
Soul made several costume changes throughout the show.
