A piece of music performed by the Regina Symphony Orchestra Chamber Players in Moose Jaw was broadcast on CBC Radio on Sat., Jan. 16, 2010.
Tunnels of Moose Jaw, written by Regina composer Laura Pettigrew, was performed at the Moose Jaw Cultural Centre in October.
It was the world premiere of the piece, and was recorded by CBC during the performance.
In writing the piece, Pettigrew said she was inspired by a visit to the Tunnels of Moose Jaw and particularly the Passage to Fortune tour.
She wanted to musically tell the story of Chinese immigrants in Canada during the head tax years, she told the Times-Herald during an interview before the piece’s performance.
The performance will be broadcast Saturday, Jan. 15, at 5 p.m. on the show SoundXChange. CBC Radio One is at 540 AM or 102.5 FM in Regina.
