One of Canada’s favourite rock groups The Stampeders will be playing some of their most recognizable songs at the Mae Wilson Theatre on Saturday.
The band was formed in Calgary in 1964 as The Rebounds but soon chose a new name and went on to produce hits such as Sweet City Woman, Carry Me, Devil You and Hit the Road Jack.
The trio of Kim Berly, Rich Dodson and Ronnie King broke up in 1977 but later reunited and have been touring ever since.
Dodson said the band is looking forward to playing Moose Jaw on Saturday.
“We’ve not played Moose Jaw in a long time,” he said. “Hopefully there will be a lot of fans and parents will bring their kids and we will have a good time.
“We love interacting with the audience and Moose Jaw has been a very responsive crowd to us and we rather like playing there.”
Dodson said people can expect all the old hits as well as a few new tunes.
“We are still writing new music and we are half way through a new album,” he revealed.
“The last one was in 1998 so we are looking forward to having a new record. It’s due out by Christmas but there’s no name yet.
“It’s in the works. It’s just getting everybody together.”
