Music fans are in for a treat at Java Express on Monday when the circus comes to town.
Doug Andrew & The Circus in Flames will be performing at 8 p.m. Monday.
“It’s original sheet metal country,” Andrew said of the band’s music.
“It’s basically folk music. I write most of the songs. We do a few covers...we always make them our own.”
The band is made up of Andrew, who sings and plays acoustic guitar, Brian Barr on the mandolin and electric guitar, Bernie Addington, who plays upright bass and drummer Ed Goodine.
Recently the Vancouver based band contributed to The Gift: A Tribute to Ian Tyson with the song ‘Someday Soon’.
The tour is mostly concentrating on gigs in Alberta but after seeing Java Express mentioned on several other bands’ websites, Andrew decided he couldn’t miss the chance to play there.
“It looked like a pretty interesting place to play and might draw in the kind of people interested in our type of music.
“We’ve never done Moose Jaw before,” he said.
