One of Moose Jaw's artists will be taking his talent to Brooks, Alta., to paint a mural.
Depending on the weather, Grant McLaughlin hopes to start June 8 or June 9 on his 10x50 foot mural, on the south wall of the Alberta Treasury Branch.
McLaughlin will be doing a mural of the historic events to the present events. Brooks was hoping for more about the cowboys and western theme.
"I'm hoping with good weather it should take me a good two weeks to finish it," said the artist.
"I'm excited to be doing this. It's always interesting to me, such as the time I went to Yorkton. I liked to learn about their city and their history."
McLaughlin has done many art works for communities, such as in 1991 he did six murals for Moose Jaw including one at the Crescent Park amphitheatre.
He recently unveiled a large sculpture that resides on the wall of Emanuel Lutheran Church. The unveiling is part of the church's 75th anniversary.
Besides McLaughlin, there will be two other artists who will later paint historical murals. Those artists are Geo Leask from Medicine Hat, and Kelly Thorson of Holdfast, Sask.
To find these three artists, Brooks did some research and called some other communities where murals have been done.
Officials from Brooks called the Tourism Moose Jaw and found out about some of the artists who painted Moose Jaw's murals. That's when they came across McLaughlin and Thorson.
