The nation's birthday will be celebrated at three separate Moose Jaw locations during Canada Day on Wednesday.
Ken Parsons, event organizer, said the city's Canada Day events will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Cosmo Centre with a pancake breakfast.
That will be followed with morning greetings at 9 a.m., which will feature performances by Gymtastiks, Doris Sitter Dancers, Dan Hayward, Savannah McBean and Keyanna Burgher.
A 1 p.m., festivities at the Wakamow speedskating oval will begin.
There will be a children's carnival set up with games and inflatable playpen equipment. Parsons said patrons can enjoy a petting zoo throughout the afternoon, as well as official Canada Day ceremonies at 2 p.m.
Also, the Artful Dogger and a barbecue set up by local Kinsmen will provide food. Parsons said the children's carnival will shut down around 5:30 p.m.
At 6 p.m., the Moose Jaw Lions Club will set up a barbecue at the Moose Jaw Exhibition grounds, where evening Canada Day festivities will take place.
At 7 p.m., Parsons said there will be three stages set up for the evening. One stage will showcase the Moose Jaw and District Idol finals competition, while another stage will feature musical performances by Harmonies.
The third stage will feature entertainment by the Minto Youth Group.
"There will be singing, plays and various fun activities," Parsons said.
The evening's finale will commence at 10:45 p.m., with a fireworks display set to music. The music will be available on local radio stations at that time. "As you can see, we have a bit of a busy Canada Day this year."
Parsons said the Canada Day committee is still fundraising for the upcoming event.
The fundraising goal was $20,000 and thus far the committee has raised approximately $17,000.
Parsons said people can donate by sending money to city hall, noting the money is for Canada Day, which will allow the city to send back a charitable donation receipt.
He added people can also call him at 631-1245 or e-mail him at gizmo1138@sasktel.net to find out how they can donate.
