Music and liquor make a natural pairing, so it makes sense that Bobby’s Place is bringing in a band to play during the scotch tasting on Saturday.

The sold-out eighth annual event will start at 3 p.m. Kevin Haakenson of Bobby’s says that all 50 tickets were sold out about a week ago to taste some of the 35 various scotches that are on hand.

“We can introduce people to the great taste of scotch,” said Haakenson. “Tasting is an easy, inexpensive way to learn if you like Scotch.”

Though there will be plenty of information for people new to the world of scotch, Haakenson said that it’s important to keep it interesting for the connoisseurs.

“Ours is a little different from everybody else’s. We make it an event,” said Haakenson.

Bobby’s makes it a well-rounded event by bringing in entertainment.

Haakenson said that Celtic bands are ideal but hard to find in the province. However, he’s very excited about the band that will be there on Saturday, making its Moose Jaw debut.

Magic Trees are a Saskatoon-based band that recently returned from a 6-month stint in England.

“We found them on the Internet,” Haakenson said. “They’re a perfect match for the clientele we’re going to have here.”
