What better way to celebrate Canada Day than spending a day in the park browsing a wide variety of handmade work by artists and artisans from all over Saskatchewan and beyond.
ParkArt will see more than 50 booths set up in Moose Jaw’s Crescent Park on July 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., selling everything from jewelry, paintings, gift cards, purses, soaps, glass work, lawn ornaments and pottery.
The event, for which the Times-Herald is a sponsor, is a fundraiser for the Moose Jaw Museum & Art Gallery and this year it celebrates 35 years.
Organizer Ross Melanson, administrative assistant, said the whole event relies on people’s imaginations and creativity.
“This is the highest number of booths we have had since I have been doing it. “It’s been steadily building.
“I think craft items are definitely becoming more popular. It’s partly the economy with people trying to subsidize themselves but also expressing themselves.
“The bulk is jewelry but there’s lots of other items and it always amazes me. It’s very interesting to me how people apply what they are doing.”
