Moose Jaw Warriors left winger Antonin Honejsek survived the final round of cuts by the Czech Republic's World Junior Hockey team.

The Czechs released five players including Edmonton Oil King defenceman Marek Hrbas and Vancouver Giants defenceman David Musil who has a hairline fracture of his fibula in his right leg after blocking a shot in WHL action.

Honejsek set up Petr Straka for the Czech's first goal in a 3-2 shootout win over the Americans in pre-competition action. The Czechs then beat the Germans 4-3 in their final pre-tournament game Thursday.

The Czechs will open pool play Monday against Norway before meeting Canada on Tuesday, Dec. 28.

Quinton Howden and his Canadian teammates will open the World Juniors in Buffalo Boxing Day at 3 p.m. against the Russians.
