The Cancer Wars
My name is Ken Sagal. I grew up in Marquis, Saskatchewan, and at an early age, I lived and worked in Africa and Australia. I eventually “came home” to Moose Jaw in 1979 and then moved to Regina in the mid-1990s. I was recently diagnosed with multiple myeloma (bone cancer, with a couple of tumours in my spine. Since February I have been sending monthly updates on my condition to a group of family and friends, and I have recently been persuaded to share these “stories” with a wider audience in case there are others with cancer out there who may benefit from seeing these thoughts. And perhaps in case there are friends or family of other cancer victims who may benefit from some insights that may not be easy to put into words. I must confess to some scepticism that my stories will generate that effect, but just in case, I have decided to put them here for the public to see. I have written about one update a month since this all began, so I intend to put them into this blog, starting with the earliest, one each week until this site is up-to-date, and monthly thereafter.
