As of Friday afternoon, Norm Neault, Local 1400 of the United Food and Commercial Workers union president, told the Times-Herald the union is still waiting to receive the latest offer from XL Foods during the ongoing XL Beef lock out.

Once the union receives the offer, Neault said he will take it to union members if it’s acceptable. Depending on the members’ vote, the offer will either be accepted or the union will try to work out some more details with the employer.

The next date for negotiations is set for Oct. 15.

I think its clear, XL has replaced MJ with Brooks. They do not need the union headaches and are prepared to move forward without all of you. You can all huddle around your makeshift fires and feed off one another for support as you walk the line but your smiles, as seen on the front page will quickly fade as the bills continue and Christmas approaches. Like all other labour disputes your cause will be forgottten in time. Most will move on, leaving only the hardcore to settle with what was on the table to start with. Its unfortunate that the people that negotiate these deals for you are the same people that continue to get paid as they sit in their warm offices. Its simple, get back at it or move on!

Dear Sparcky: There is a lot of difference between driving a semi long haul and putting in 70 hrs a week compared to working on a kill floor. These employees don't have a problems with working some overtime they just have problem with it being unlimited.
