During a Saskatchewan Federation of Labour Convention in Saskatoon last week, which several local XL Beef employees attended, conference-goers decided to pass around a hat to raise money to help locked out Moose Jaw employees.
According to Norm Neault, United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1400 president and spokesman, the various union members at the convention raised over $25,000 towards the lockout fund.
“That was nice to see the support from the rest of the unions in Saskatchewan." - Norm Neault
“That was nice to see the support from the rest of the unions in Saskatchewan,” he told the Times-Herald on Monday, adding all money donated would go directly to local employees struggling during the almost six-week long lockout.

My thoughts are with the workers... get other unions to help u guys... they will send money to help you with your strike pay... forget about all these people who know nothing about union work...Keep fighting and you will come out the winners... There are alot of people behind you in Moose Jaw.... No one with children can live on ten dollars an hour... if you do you are living in poverty..... Good Luck Workers.... People are rallying around you.....
