The business relationship between father-son duo Dale and Bob Taylor runs as smoothly as a small engine after it leaves their local repair shop.
A couple weeks ago, 38-year-old Dale and his 56-year-old father opened Band City Small Engine at 1050 Manitoba St. E. and there is no question as to the hierarchy between the local entrepreneurs.
“Dale is in charge,” Bob said, adding his son has a higher tolerance for certain aspects of the business that makes him the natural leader.
Dale said there really is no conflicts or issues working with his father, considering the two are pretty good friends as it is.
“Even after hours, Dad and I hang out. We jump on our Harleys and go take off.”
This is Dale’s first attempt at business ownership. However, his father has owned businesses in the past and is an experienced small-engine mechanic.
The new Moose Jaw business will fix just about anything. Dale said him and his father are able to do most warranty work on lawn and garden gas-powered equipment sold at the big box stores. Also, the duo will do non-small engine work.
Dale said business has been booming the last couple days, as Moose Javians get their garden tractors and lawn mowers ready for another another growing season. Also, he said area farmers are getting the Taylors to do some farm-equipment repairs.
