On Friday, he told the Times-Herald the past two weeks of hot sunny weather have allowed most local farmers to complete harvest, despite a slow start to the growing season and occasionally cold and wet summer.
“That has really been a blessing,” he said about the recent weather, adding local farmers still in the fields are mostly finishing durum wheat, which matures slower. Also, he said there are fewer daylight hours, which reduces the amount of time many of those farmers can work.

Fine weather helped producers make good progress on harvest all over Saskatchewan this past week, according to the weekly provincial crop report.
While almost all local crops are in the bins, about 50 per cent of the 2009 crop has been combined province wide, up from 32 per cent just last week. An additional 24 per cent is swathed and nine per cent is ready to straight-combine.
