Moose Jaw’s harvest is more than 93 per cent collected and it has been a surprisingly successful year, according to the provincial ministry of agriculture in Moose Jaw.
But it is a different story across northern parts of the province which have been badly affected by the wet, cold weather slowing down work and harvest operations.
Grant McLean, cropping management specialist for the Government of Saskatchewan’s agriculture department based at Thatcher Drive, said Moose Jaw has escaped the worse of the weather.
He said: “Moose Jaw has been fortunate as a significant proportion of our crop is in. There is some late flax and canola and these are the ones that are still left locally to be harvested.
“We are looking for sunny, dry weather for that to occur. Hopefully this weekend will see that and it will provide the opportunity for individuals to get out in the next week.”
