The Village of Mortlach has two new real estate developments.
Twenty-one new residential lots are under development and an Ontario trailer manufacturer will locate a plant in town.
"We're negotiating with Flatboy Trailers for two five-acre lots and it wants an option on a third," said Mayor Ron Locke.
"It hopes to pour cement as soon as weather conditions allow. It's looking at opening by summer."
The company builds utility trailers to haul snow mobiles and all-terrain vehicles and has plants in Ontario and Florida.
The operators came and scoped out Mortlach on the recommendation of former Mortlach minister Tim Ellis, a brother of one of the shareholders, Locke said.
"They wanted lifestyle and a place to build. And they see Saskatchewan is the place to be."
Fourteen jobs will be created.
The lots were planned following a September sale of the last nine lots offered at $1 each to attract residents.
They should be ready for building by late spring, early summer, Locke said. The village is waiting on a final quote from the power and gas company, he said.
The price will be $10,000 or cost plus $10,000, whichever is less.
"We've had a few calls at the village office but we can't get a specific time they can build," said Locke.
A private developer is interested in buying 12 of the lots.
"That would help out our revenues. We don't have a big bank account."
