The Casino Moose Jaw building permit was the most expensive one city hall issued in May, which allows for $1.2 million in interior renovations.
That permit was one of 52 (worth approximately $7.51 million) issued last month.
There were nine more permits issued in May 2009 than for the same 31-day period last year.
For demolition projects, the City of Moose Jaw issued 10 permits in May, all as part of the the multiplex project. Also, Hillcrest Apostolic Church received a permit to hire 3D Metal to demolish the decorative tower that stood at the front of the church.
There were 16 permits (worth approximately $4.7 million) for new dwelling constructions.
Among those were separate permits for four new house projects on Wood Lily Drive, as well as two for houses on Lillooet Street West and two for Admiral Crescent.
The Diocese of Qu'Appelle received a permit to spend $578,000 contracting Jim Zimmer to alter the church at 124 First Ave. N.E.
The Saskatchewan Ministry of Government Services received a permit to spend $15,000 contracting Raum Energy Inc. to build a small wind turbine at 600 Saskatchewan St. W.
The city also issued a moving permit to Alvin Hunter, which allows the transport of a house from Gull Lake, along the Trans-Canada Highway to Thatcher Drive East, then down Ninth Avenue Northeast to Oxford Street East.
As of May 31, there were 121 permits issued in Moose Jaw, worth approximately $24.2 million. Although there were 11 more permits issued as of the same date in 2008, those permits only totalled about $21 million.
