REGINA - More than 200 construction workers gathered at the Saskatchewan legislature to oppose legislation that would change the way the industry operates in the province.
The workers argue the Construction Industry Labour Relations Amendment Act would open the door to out-of-province workers and unions.
They say the current law overseeing the construction industry isn't broken and doesn't need to be fixed.
But Michael Fougere, president of the Saskatchewan Construction Association, welcomes the proposed changes.
Fougere says they would attract more workers and companies to the province to help build infrastructure and all workers will have more union choices.
The gathering came as Saskatchewan politicians started to review the proposed legislation in a committee meeting.
