As of the end of July, more businesses were opening in Moose Jaw than closing in 2009. In total, 222 opened during that time period, while 72 closed.
According to a recent Moose Jaw and District Chamber of Commerce report, 91 businesses that earn $50,000 or less revenue a year opened in the Friendly City between Jan. 1 and July 31. Only 31 businesses in that same category closed down during the same time period.
For businesses earning between $50,000 and $500,000 a year, 50 opened locally during the first seven months of 2009, while 31 closed. Over that same time period, 64 home businesses opened, while 24 closed. As well, 14 new transient business opened, while six closed.
