REGINA - A London, Ont., man travelling across Canada to gather the stories of Canadian war veterans is appealing to thieves in Regina who took his recording equipment and laptop computer.
Randy Young, who is working with the group Friends of Veterans, made a short stop in the Saskatchewan city Sunday to ask for directions to the local chapter of the Royal Canadian Legion.
When he came out of the store, all of his equipment, including the interviews he'd gathered from people across the country, had been stolen from his vehicle.
Young says it's heartbreaking.
Last week, he did an interview with a man who spent nearly four years in a prisoner-of-war camp in Japan during the Second World War, an experience the man had difficulty talking about.
Young says the equipment isn't worth much to the thieves and he just wants the interviews back, no questions asked.
