As XL Beef employer representatives and the union representing workers meets for negotiations this week, employees on lock out continue to picket outside the plant.
Norm Neault, Local 1400 of the United Food and Commercial Workers union president, told the Times-Herald that after two days of negotiations between the union and employer, the union is awaiting the company’s next offer sometime on Friday.
He said the first two days of negotiations have included the exchange of several offers between the union and XL Foods. The next scheduled negotiation meeting is on Oct. 15.
In the meantime, Neault said locked out XL Beef employees continue to picket in front of the XL plant everyday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., as they have done everyday since the picket started last week.
