SASKATOON - Twinning of a major Saskatchewan highway is moving into high gear.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall say they will work together to speed up widening of Highway 11 between Saskatoon and Prince Albert.
Each government is throwing in $62 million to move up the completion date to 2012 from 2016.
Highway 11 serves as a corridor to the province's resource-rich north.
Harper and Wall say a better highway will support significant mineral and timber resource development, as well as manufacturing and tourist growth in the region.
The two made the announcement in Saskatoon, where Harper is also participating in a roundtable with new Senator Pamela Wallin.
