YORKTON, Sask. - RCMP say a natural gas leak in Yorkton has been contained and people have been allowed to return to their homes and businesses.

Sgt. Sheri-Lynne Fedorowich says the leak was caused by a city backhoe hitting a natural gas line near the Gallagher Centre.

Police evacuated buildings in the area as a precaution and some roads were closed.

No one was injured.

SaskEnergy remains on the scene working to repair the line.
