The Five Hills Health Region gets a clean bill of health in the finance department for 2007-2008.
The region's annual report shows it operated with a surplus of $1,754,793 after starting with a total of $101,542,741 in funding.
"The Five Hills Health Region is in the best financial position of all the provincial regional health authorities," said Craig Beesley, Five Hills spokesman.
Beesley said the surplus is transferred to the region's capital budget, helping to supplement its spending on facilities and equipment.

Since there is a surplus, how about spending some of it on hiring a consultant on Autism Spectrum Disorders (this includes Asperger's syndrome for those not familiar with autism disorders).
I seem to recall that the Saskatoon Health Region or perhaps it was the School Division in Saskatoon that hired a consultant on autism disorders.
With 1 in 150 children being born with an autism disorder, we need someone in the Five Hills Health Region and the Praire South School Division that is very knowledgeable about this complex disorder.
Children and youth with Asperger's Syndrome are not recieving the educational services and medical care that they need to become contributing members in the community.
Children/youth with AS can be very successful in life but it is essential that they have access to appropriate educational programs and top-notch medical care.
Children/Youth with autism disorders are not being given an equal opportunity to succeed.
