Moose Jaw -

After several days of rumour and speculation, Moose Jaw's Brad Legare claimed the $17 million jackpot he won in Friday's Super 7 draw.
Legare's winnings set a new record for the largest lottery jackpot ever won in Saskatchewan.
Legare told Saskatchewan Lotteries officials that he and his girlfriend were heading to his mother's house for dinner when they stopped to pick up some soft drinks at the Mac's convenience store, located at Ninth Avenue Southwest, Friday.
Legare purchased a $5 Super 7 quick pick ticket for the lottery at the store.
On Saturday, Legare checked the winning numbers on the Western Canada Lottery Corporation's website. The third line of his ticket matched all the numbers on the website.
Legare and his girlfriend went back to the same Mac's store to verify the win. Legare was too nervous and sent his girlfriend in to check the ticket.
According to Sask. Lotteries, Legare said he needs some time to think about his windfall but he is definitely done working as a roofer.
Legare told Sask. Lotteries he plans to share with his family and pay off all his debts.
Legare is contemplating a move away from the city telling Sask. Lotteries that he would like to purchase a farm and get away from it all.
Saskatchewan lottery officials indicated that Legare does not wish to be interviewed by the media.
According to Sask. Lotteries, the city of Moose Jaw has seen a substantial number of lottery winners. With just three per cent of the province's population, the city accounts for about 13 per cent of Saskatchewan's lottery millionaires.

I thought it was a stipulation of winning the lottery that you had to accept being interviewed by the media... I dont get it? Why hide?

Congrats Brad...be smart with your cash...the rivers ain't the only places in Saskatchewan with leeches.

If you're smart with that cash it will last your grandkids grandkids a lifetime...if you're stupid half of Moose Jaw will get a quick fix.

Forget about anybody who hasn't stuck by you your whole life. A windfall like that is only a blessing if you don't waste it needlessly.

As for drum shopping...you don't need me for that anymore...buy whatever you like...you can afford it. I would however highly recommend Peavey or Sonor for shells, Pearl or DW for pedals, DW or Tama for thrones, and Sabian or Paiste for cymbals. Hardware is hardware...make sure the legs are double braced and the gauge of the metal is fairly thick...beyond that the company doesn't matter much. Don't cheap out and buy a cymbal pack...B8 bronze is cheap, you want something that is at least 15 to 20% tin and the rest copper...B8 is 8% tin...cheap. Buy you cymbals individually. That is the best advice I can give you.

Again congrats dude...make it last. $17 million sounds like a lot but any amount of money can be blown easily if you're not smart about it.

Had an uncle who won 6 million in 1993 and now has nothing. 2 pieces of advice

    A) remember your family and friends.
    B) don't trust strangers who have great business deals etc.

The best advice right now is, make all your own investments, at least if you lose money or gain, it will be because of your own doing, not some accountant or financial advisor.
Like Oprah says sign all your own cheques!.
