Sleigh Belles open house
Sleigh Belles Christmas open house will be on Oct. 5 at Church of Our Lady, 566 Vaughan St. from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. More than 30 vendors will be present. Half of the proceeds from Serenigy (healthier coffee) and Stampin Up (make and take) will be donated to the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic.
Moose Jaw Public Library
Manga Club for youth ages 10 to 18 will be on Oct. 5 at the Moose Jaw Public Library at 3 p.m. Manga-minded gathering will include cosplay, crafts, anime viewings and book discussions. No registration is required and admission is free.
Library book club meeting will be on Oct. 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Moose Jaw Public Library. The featured book this month is The Sense of an Ending by Julian Barnes. Copies of the book are available on a first-come, first-serve basis from the library and the club is open to all interested adults. No registration is required.
Writer’s Circle for youth ages 10 to 18 will meet on Oct. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Moose Jaw Public Library. Grow writing skills in an hour of reading, writing and critique and bring a piece of writing. No registration is required and admission is free.
What Can Your Pharmacist Do For You? with pharmacist Michael Pitzel, Shoppers Drug Mart will be at the Moose Jaw Public Library on Oct. 10 at 2:30 p.m. Find out about the Saskatchewan Drug Plan. Admission is free.
Introduction to Genealogy with speakers Wendy Gray and Diane Milton-Smith of the Moose Jaw Genealogical Society will be on Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the Moose Jaw Public Library.
Just DIY! Paper Sculpture will be on Oct. 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the Moose Jaw Public Library. All materials will be provided. Admission is free.
Introduction to Ancestry.ca Library Edition with assistant librarian Laura Shtern will be on Oct. 17 at 2:30 p.m. at the Moose Jaw Public Library. It will be a hands-on demonstration of the edition and participants will learn how to research family history at the public library. Admission is free.
Transforming Readers Storybook Project with Don Kerr, Saskatchewan poet laureate, and Paul Wilson, publisher with Hagios Press, will be on Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Moose Jaw Public Library. Celebrate Saskatchewan Library Week with the project that involves readers and library patrons sharing reading experiences. Admission is free.
The Moose Jaw Public Library will have a used book sale on Oct. 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Books, magazines and audiovisual material will be sold for $5 per bag.
Cardiaction Support Group
Cardiaction Support Group will meet on Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. in the card room at Timothy Eaton. The guest speaker will be Cara Chow, clinic manager and occupational therapist at Alliance Wellness and Rehabilitation. Lunch will be available in the cafeteria after the meeting.
Buttons and Bows
Buttons and Bows Square and Round Dance Club will dance on Tuesdays in the social hall at St. Andrew’s United Church. On Oct. 8 special guest callers Bob and Marion Lees of Estevan will call with a cost of $5 per person. Lunch will be served. The club will dance to CDs on Oct. 15 and guest callers Marvin and Sharon Dales from Coleville will call at a cost of $5 per person.
The 34th annual Saskatchewan Square and Round Dance Federation Dance Weekend will be on Nov. 1, 2 and 3. Hosted by Zone 5, “Bring your Taw to Moose Jaw” will be held at Cosmo Senior Citizens Centre for lunches, banquet and annual meeting. The round dance and square dancing workshops will be held in the social hall of St. Andrew’s Church on Nov. 2. Cost is $70 per person. Single sessions are also available at a cost of $7 per person at the door. Deadline for full registration is Oct. 15.
Tea and bake sale
The Mizpah Chapter No. 1 Order of the Eastern Star will have its annual fall tea and bake sale on Oct. 19, 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the Masonic Temple, 1755 Main St. N. Admission is $5 per person.
