A selection of some upcoming community events happening in and around Moose Jaw.

Free turf time

Every Sunday, 6-8 p.m., YaraCentre will have free turf time featuring toys, bouncy castles and space to run or play a favourite game in the Rotary Family Fun Zone. Watch for special guests, speakers and programs taking place the last Sunday of every month.

W.J. Jones and Son

Survivors of Suicide, grief support for those who have experienced the death of a loved one to suicide, will be on Feb. 26 at W.J. Jones & Son Family Resource Centre, 262 Athabasca St. E., 7:30-9:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Hope, grief support for all bereaved, will be on March 12 at W.J. Jones & Son Family Resource Centre, 262 Athabasca St. E., 7:30-9:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Bereaved Parents, grief support for parents who have experienced the death of a child, will be on March 19 at at W.J. Jones & Son Family Resource Centre, 262 Athabasca St. E., 7:30-9:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Moose Jaw and District Seniors

Centre social dance will be on March 1 at Moose Jaw and District Seniors from 8 p.m. to midnight with music by Three for the Show. Cost is $12 including evening lunch.

A cribbage tournament will be on March 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Moose Jaw and District Seniors. Cost is $10 including coffee and muffins in the morning and soup and sandwiches for lunch. Register by Feb. 28 by calling 306-694-4223.

Pancake breakfast will be on March 14, 8-10 a.m. at Moose Jaw and District Seniors. Cost is $6 per person.

Moose Jaw and District Seniors will have a potluck supper on March 16 at 5:30 p.m. Bring a favourite dish and the cost is $1.

Moose Jaw and District Seniors’ annual general meeting will be on April 11 at 10:30 a.m. immediately after the pancake breakfast. It will include the presentation of audited financial statements and reports. Any specific topics must be in written form and addressed to the board of directors for discussion at the meeting 30 days in advance.

Bridge tournament will be at Moose Jaw and District Seniors on March 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Register by March 21 at 3 p.m. Cost is $12.50 per person including muffins in the morning and a hot lunch. For more information, call 306-694-4223.

Pancake dinner

The United Church men’s group will have a Shrove Tuesday pancake dinner on March 4, 5-7 p.m. in the social hall at St. Andrew’s United Church. There will be a free will offering. Everyone is invited to attend.

Singles dance

Moose Jaw Town and Country Singles Dance will be on March 8 from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Church of Our Lady community centre. A midnight lunch is included and the band is Al & Company. Married couples are welcome. Cost is $12. For more information, call Marion at 306-691-6634.

Russian culture presentation

The Moose Jaw and District Chamber of Commerce and the Russian Association will host a presentation on Russian culture geared to the business community on March 12 at 12 p.m. Cost is $20 per person. RSVP by March 5 by calling 306-692-6414 or email chamber@mjchamber.com.

Tea and a movie

St. Andrew’s United Church outreach committee will have tea and a movie in the social hall of the church on March 14 at 2 p.m. The movie is Finian’s Rainbow and a freewill offering will be taken.

Cosmo Senior Citizens Centre

A mini canasta tournament will be on March 14 at 1 p.m. at the Cosmo Senior Citizens Centre. Cost is $5 including snacks and prizes.

Cosmo social dance will be at the Cosmo Senior Citizens Centre on March 15 from 8 p.m. to midnight with music by Al and Company. Cost is $12 including lunch.

The Cosmo Senior Citizens Centre annual general meeting will be on March 20 at 1:30 p.m.

Mini bridge tournament will be on March 21 at 1 p.m. at Cosmo Senior Citizens Centre. Cost is $5 including snacks and prizes.

Military whist will be on March 22 at 10 a.m. at the Cosmo Senior Citizens Centre. Cost is $10 including lunch.

Mini cribbage tournament will be on March 25 at 1 p.m. at the Cosmo Senior Citizens Centre. Cost is $5 including snacks and prizes.

The Cosmo Senior Citizens Centre will have jam sessions every Tuesday, 9:30-11:30 a.m. Cost is $2. Billiards will be on Mondays and Tuesdays at 6 p.m. and on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.

Moose Jaw Public Library

The library book club will meet on March 4 at 7:30 p.m. at the Moose Jaw Public Library. The featured book this month is Rules of Civility by Amor Towles, which is about a young woman with an uncommon sense of purpose. Copies are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the library. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.

iPad Basics with September Brooke will be at the Moose Jaw Public Library as a two-part class. The first session is on March 5 at 2:30 p.m. and March 12 at 2:30 p.m. The second session is on March 5 at 7 p.m. and March 12 at 7 p.m. All session will be at the library. Movie night for youth aged 10 to 18 will be at the Moose Jaw Public Library on March 5 at 6:30 p.m. The movie will be the animated comedy Hotel Transylvania starring Adam Sandler as Dracula. No registration is required and admission is free.

Avid Knittters: Learn to Knit, Love to Knit with guest Barb Silvester will be on March 6 at 2:30 p.m. at the Moose Jaw Public Library. Bring projects, yarn and needles for an afternoon of knitting and instruction will be provided for those wanting to learn to knit. Admission is free.

Just Dance Tournament, a first-ever dance challenge for youth aged 10 to 18, will be at the Moose Jaw Public Library on March 8 at 3 p.m. No registration is required and admission is free.

Musical swing

15 Wing Fellowship presents the first annual Musical Swing on March 8 at Timothy Eaton’s Auditorium, 7-10 p.m. There will be a silver collection donation taken in support of the Military Family Resource Centre. The evening acts will include musical acts, a 50/50 draw, refreshments, cake and door prizes. For more information, contact Joyce Walter at 306-692-7357 or Gord Johnson at 306-692-0072.

National Association of Federal Retirees

The National Association of Federal Retirees, formerly the Federal Superannuates National Association, will have an annual general meeting on March 12 at Timothy Eaton Gardens. The roast beef supper is at 6 p.m. with the meeting to follow. Tickets are $15 and are available at the Timothy Eaton Gardens front desk.

Get Seizure Smart

Get Seizure Smart, a presentation by the Epilepsy Society, will be on March 26 at 7 p.m. It will be available at the following Five Hills Health Region (FHHR) telehealth sites: Moose Jaw, Gravelbourg, Rockglen and Central Butte.
