Nellie McClung is one of Canada’s most significant and celebrated historical figures. Her amazing life is the inspiration for Kathleen Morrell’s Nellie McClung: A One “Person” Play. Starring noted Saskatchewan actress Wendy Jeanne Smith as McClung, the play is being presented by the the Moose Jaw and District Labour Council together with CUPE 600-3 Women’s Committee, SEIU WEST and SGEU Local 1110 in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of International Women’s Day.
McClung played a pivotal role on the decision made on October 18, 1929, by the British Privy Council that recognized women as “persons” under the law.
