At least one city councillor has decided not to be an incumbent candidate in the upcoming municipal election.
On Tuesday, Coun. Terry Colemen released a prepared statement indicating he would not seek re-election on Oct. 24.
“Notwithstanding the substantial encouragement and support, I have decided not to run for mayor or councillor,” Coleman said in his media release. “It has been a difficult decision; but for personal reasons based on the potential for other opportunities and ventures, it is time to move on.”
Coleman states he has appreciated community support and the urging by many to run in the upcoming election, including some who suggested he run for mayor.
“Indeed, I have seriously considered running.”
