While Moose Jaw Fire Department and Moose Jaw Police Service continued into the long weekend their investigation of the cause of Friday’s double-house fire on the 1000 block of Warner Street West, the residents of those two houses are OK for the time being.
Moose Jaw Salvation Army Capt. Laurie Reilly told the Times-Herald the approximately seven people who lost their homes due to the fire all received vouchers from the Red Cross to cover their essentials, and all have places in the community willing to offer shelter.
“They’re staying with family in Moose Jaw, so there’s no panic right now,” Reilly said, adding aside from assistance from the Red Cross, the local Salvation Army would offer any clothes, furniture or other available necessities to help those displaced tenants move into new homes.
