Helping you become “Heart Healthy for Life” is the goal of Cardiaction, a Cardiac Rehabilitation Program offered in the Five Hills Health Region.

Through education, exercise and support, those who attend the program are given the skills and knowledge needed to live heart healthy lives.

According to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, heart and stroke takes one in three Canadians before their time and is the No. 1 killer of women.

However, for those who have suffered a heart event and survived, there is the opportunity out there to turn things around.

Dawn Bohlken, Cardiaction’s registered nurse, said that after someone suffers from a heart or stroke related incident, it is always recommended they make a lifestyle change, however in the end it comes down to the individual.

In the basement of the Timothy Eaton Gardens is a room bursting with all the tools one may need to live a healthy life.
