Moose Jaw Rotary Club met Nov. 16 at noon at the Heritage Inn. The meeting began with the induction of the club's newest member, Doug Hallman, the minister at Zion United Church. After Hallman was presented with his Rotary pin, club members welcomed him at the conclusion of the ceremony.
An invitation was extended for volunteers interested in helping with the upcoming Saskatchewan Winter Games. There are still a few vacancies in the various Rotary committees that need to be filled to help distribute the workload for the various aspects of club service. The Christmas Salvation Army kettle campaign will soon be underway beginning Dec. 2. The Moose Jaw Rotary Club will again be assisting at three locations in the city.
A motion was approved to make a financial contribution to Habitat for Humanity which recently sent a representative to speak to the club about its charitable efforts.
President Ed Bourassa sought the club's approval of moving the Dec. 7 lunch meeting to an evening fellowship supper on that same date to include guests and spouses, therefore evolving the regular meeting into a Rotary Christmas celebration. This suggestion was accepted.
Doug Trithardt gave the treasurer's report and distributed financial reports current to June 30 and Oct. 31. A question arising from the report inquired as to the redistribution of the Rotary Track Club funds to another project as there no longer is such a group. The executive committee will discuss the matter and bring suggestions to the membership for approval.
Kathy Fitton reported on the International Service Committee, noting it has recently interviewed a candidate for the outbound exchange student program and has decided to sponsor the young woman who will be going abroad in the fall of 2010.
