4-H club receives FCC grant for community event

Old Wives 4-H Club

The Old Wives 4-H Club held its monthly meeting Jan. 2.  Brian and Clifford Barnett brought their team of horses and everyone enjoyed a sleigh ride. This was followed by a potluck supper and the meeting.

    The club received a grant from Farm Credit Canada to be used for functions involving the club and community.

    Some members signed up for the District No. 8 curling to be held Saturday at Briercrest.

    Members are planning an afternoon of skating at the Mortlach rink on Feb. 18.

    The club’s annual bingo will be held Feb. 20 at Old Wives Hall.

    Sheep members had a lesson about the growing lamb and a demonstration on castration and docking of its tail.

    Cloverbuds painted bird houses and made bird feeders.

    Junior beef members had a lesson on feeds to choose for their animals.

    Intermediate members had a lesson on diseases anddehorning their animals.

    The next meeting will be Feb. 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Rosso Farm.
