Kinsmen Club prepares for Telemiracle, hockey tournament

Dorothy Yakiwchuk, project co-ordinator of the Partners Against Violence Committee, was guest speaker at the Feb. 22 meeting of the Moose Jaw Kinsmen Club.

    Her presentation was on building a safer community for the purpose of creating awareness and education on violence in the community.

    Members of the club played in the Hockey Night in Mortlach event held Feb. 26 in support of the Parkland Kinsmen/Kinette fundraising project for Telemiracle 34. Local projects have included steak nights and a hypnotist comedy show. Members of both clubs will parficipate in Telemiracle 34 to be held Saturday and Sunday in Regina.

    The Moose Jaw clubs will play host to the Zone G spring conference to be held March 13.

    The Petered Pucks Kinsmen hockey team will compete in the District No. 3 annual Perogy Cup hockey tournament March 19-20 in Yorkton.

    A meeting of the Kinsmen Club will be held Monday at the Heritage Inn with social at 6 p.m., supper at 6:30 p.m. and meeting at 7 p.m. Anyone interested in participating in the Kinsmen Club is welcome to attend. Information is available by calling 630-3022 or 692-3233.
