The story of the buffalo will be told during a special performance at Buffalo Pound on July 26.
The event is part of Askiy Productions' 2011 Born Buffalo Saskatchewan parks tour and will also include a drama workshop.
Writer Alanis King said the play describes the magical journey of a contemporary buffalo trying to find its herd.
"It escapes from a zoo with the help of two young aboriginal teenagers on a class field trip. The story moves into the magical world of the buffalo.
"The entire play is about questioning the origin of the buffalo with science versus Aboriginal myth.
"There is a lot of dance, music, aboriginal story telling and humour," she said.
King said the play originated as part of a workshop production held last summer at Wanuskewin.
"Based on that, we have developed the play more and now it's ready for a tour. We are calling it the Saskatchewan World Tour and it's going to national and provincial parks."
King said the drama workshop is aimed at children aged five and up.
