Buffalo Pound Lake Park has a packed four day event calendar to celebrate the August long weekend.

Heritage is going to be a major them e to celebrate Saskatchewan Day, with entertainment, crafts and activities for the entire family.

“On Monday, we’re going to have old fashioned games such as potato sack races, three legged races, bean bag tosses and more for the children,” park interpreter Caitlynn Beckett told the Times-Herald.

Beckett says First Nation demonstrations and workshops including stone tool making, hide tanning, aboriginal toy making and games will be taking place. “More games, artifacts, birch bark biting and making duck decoys out of cattails will also take place in the Elmview Day Use area.”

Live entertainment will take place Saturday and Sunday with the Mitchell Brothers performing Saturday at 7 p.m. to coincide with a cowboy feast.

Brenda Lee Cottrell and Tex Emery will be performing Sunday at 7 p.m.

“We really want the games and entertainment to show the influence of the homestead and its reference to our heritage,” Beckett said. “Wagon rides will be held 1 to 4 p.m. on Monday and First Nation Dancers are performing on Saturday.
