Moose Jaw -
While the number of bus passengers increased during the first three months of 2009 (compared to the same time period in 2008), the Moose Jaw Transit System's overall revenue decreased from 2008 to this year.
According to the City of Moose Jaw's January to March quarterly report, approved during Monday's council meeting, 118,848 people had used the local transit service by the end of March, which is 7.4 per cent more people than used the service the same time period last year.
However, 2009 first-quarter revenue was down $21,628 from the same three-month period in 2008 - totalling $218,867 this year.
Revenue at the Moose Jaw Public Library was also down during the first quarter. Last year (January to March), the library earned $14,707. In the first three months of this year, the library's revenue was down $2,992, due to fewer donations.
