Although there are a number of differences between the Lutheran churches in Moose Jaw, on the topic of ordaining people in same-sex relationships, the two are on the same side.
Rev. Douglas Shepherd of Central Lutheran Church said in his church, persons in same-sex relationships cannot be ordained.
"We don't do that. We ordain homosexuals and lesbians if they are celibate, but we don't ordain (those who are) in a relationship."
Shepherd said Central Lutheran, like Emmanuel Lutheran, does not do same-sex marriages, nor does it do same-sex blessings.
He said those things could change down the line "but that certainly hasn't happened yet."

But doesn't the Bible also later state that if one has desire in his eyes for another woman other than his wife that he has committed a sin that is akin to adultery? If so, then a person could hypotenize that being celibate and just thinking about homosexual acts (lusting) for them is also a very bad sin. It isn't always the act it is also the thought that can get your butt into the pot....

The Bible clearly states that thou shall not lie with a man as one does with a woman. So, if you are a homosexual, but are celibate, I don't think you are breaking the laws of Leviticus. If you ARE a homosexually active, I don't think that you should be in a position to teach Christian morals. It would be hypocritical. Either way, the related story said it was the ELCA that is allowing it, not the ELCIC. Anyway, I'm off to a lobster and pig roast at the synogogue.
