What could be better than toppling over domino structures?
For six-year-old Moose Javian Matthew Ellingson, the answer is toppling over giant domino structures, which he did during the local Western Development Museum's community play day on Saturday.
"It's easy," he said while gently placing one large domino chip at the end of a row. "But you have to be careful to not let it tip."
Aside from dominoes, Ellingson said he also enjoyed the pretend fish pond.
Jackie Hall, museum program and information officer, told the Times-Herald the annual family fun event is meant simply to provide an enjoyable venue for young children. She added the one-day play day usually attracts about 1,000 people and requires 12 staff members and about 30 volunteers to host.
"We have all sorts of fun things," she said about this year's event, which included horse rides and a cow milking simulator.
Moose Jaw's Jayden Miller, 8, was trying to tease milk out of the synthetic nipple attached to the large artificial cow in front of the museum.
"It was easy. You have to squeeze it really hard though," he said while wiping some of the milk off his hands.
Although he enjoyed the fake cow, Miller said his favourite event during community play day was the Hoppy Meal, which is a large air toy shaped like a fast food restaurant meal.
Miller said there were things in the inflatable hamburger with which children could play.
Event volunteer Kimberley Hook, 15, said children really seemed to enjoy the activity she supervised on Saturday - building paper airplanes.
"I think they have so much fun. As soon as they have (the planes) built, they're tossing them all over the place."
The airplanes were specially pre-cut into shapes that allowed the young children to more easily fold them into air-worthy crafts.
In total, there were 27 activities in which children could partake.
