Around 2 p.m. Monday, the Saskatchewan Western Development Museum was invaded by aliens - or, at least, alien slime.
To investigate the gooey mess left behind by the extraterrestrial lifeforms were eight local youth who weren't afraid to get their hands dirty.
Covered in slime, the children helped each other search for clues.
OK, so Moose Jaw was not visited by aliens and it will not go down in the history books as an alien encounter, but the kids who attended the WDM's Space Camp Monday definitely had a blast, said Lyndsay Grado, program assistant at the WDM and the camp's organizer.
Grado said the camp went great and that gooey mess found by the Times-Herald was actually alien slime created by the children attending the event.
Kasidy McQueen, 5, one of the camp's junior astronauts, said making the alien slime was her favourite part of the day.
Although there were a number of activities she enjoyed, it was the pink slime squishing through her fingers that let her know she was really having fun.
"I liked making the slime. It was squishy and slimy, just like sea slime."
She also liked launching a rocket, however it didn't top the slime.
Chase Haas, 7, said he had to agree with McQueen. The slime was the best part of the day, adding he really liked how it felt and how squishy it was.
Haas said beyond the slime he also enjoyed making his own personalized planet and watching the rocket launch.
He said the camp was a lot of fun and he would like to attend again next year.
Along with alien slime, a rocket launch, a trip around the museum, crafts, freeze-dried astronaut ice cream and games, the kids also had the opportunity to create a space habitat.
Grado said she felt the day was "an overwhelming day of fun" for the kids.
"I really think they had a great time."
Although the day took a lot of planning and organizing, it was well worth it to see how much the children enjoyed it.
Even though each of the day camps held at the museum is not an annual event, Shirley Stenko, the visitor service officer, said she can see space camp returning to the museum again next year.
