Although she isn't walking across the country - or the city for that matter - Christa Jamieson has been walking for a cause.
To raise money for a disease that has personally touched her life, the nine-year-old has been walking neighbourhood dogs to collect donations for breast cancer.
She said the idea to be a dog walker came up after her teacher and her teacher's dog visited the school.
"I just thought it would be fun to do something with dogs and to raise money for a good cause."
Jamieson said it is because of her aunt's fight with breast cancer that she decided to collect and donate to that cause.
Jamieson said she has raised $110 over the last week. She said for the most part, her time as a dog walker has been pretty great.
However, she did experience a moment where she had to separate a smaller dog from a larger dog. She found the incident quite unnerving, but not deterring.
Jamieson plans to collect funds for breast cancer until the end of October and then will move on to a new cause.
"I think when I am done I am going to keep on walking the dogs but (donate) the money to a different cause, maybe Support our Troops and then I think I will put it towards a children's charity."
Jamieson said one of the perks to doing such a good deed is the way she feels at the end of the day.
"It feels really good to do something nice. I am just trying to be a better person and I think it is going really well so far."
